Austin Wade Carberry Sr., of Sparks, Okla., passed away on August 14, 2021 at his home in Sparks at the age of 85. Austin was born February 27, 1936 in Avard, Okla. He was the son of Everett Raymond and Mary Etha (Mitchell) Carberry.
Austin proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served from August of 1955 until August of 1966. Following his time in the USAF, Austin worked as an engine mechanic for Tinker Air Force Base for 22 years. When Austin wasn’t working, he was an avid fisherman and hunter, passionate farmer and rancher and had a lifelong relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Austin married his “Sweet Sixteen,” Carol Mae (Rauch) Carberry, on August 17, 1956, in Waynoka, Okla. The two were happily married for 52 years, when she passed away on January 30, 2009.
Austin was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Carol Carberry; his parents; grandson, Scott Rudolph; granddaughter, Ellie Carberry and two brothers, Warren Carberry and Dale Carberry.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Cain of Meeker, Okla.; daughter, Sheryl Rudolph and her husband Mark of Midwest City; son, AJ Carberry Jr. and his wife Vicki of Meeker; one brother, Carl Carberry and his wife Rosie of Waynoka; sister, Twila Barrett and her husband Gary of Stamford, Texas; sisters-in-law, Joyce King of Wellington, Kan., Idabel Johnson of Shawnee, Connie Carberry of San Antonio, Texas, Linda Dennis of Waynoka and Virginia Carberry of Lamar, Colo. He is also survived by a host of family and friends.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Hazel Dell Baptist Church in McLoud, Okla. A graveside service will immediately follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker. Friends and family may pay their respects at Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Meeker 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Thursday, August 19 and Friday, August 20.
