After finishing third at the state cross country meet last year, the Prague girls won their regional and are heading back to the state meet, this time held at Carl Albert High School on Saturday.
They’ll join the Prague, Davenport, North Rock Creek and McLoud boys, the Stroud girls and individuals from other schools.
Jocelyn Ward and Hailey Johnson went 1-2 for Prague at the regional, with Hanna Rolette, Brynlee Smith and Jaxi Friend finishing 7th, 8th and 14th.
Rolette said the Lady Devils are cutting back slightly on their training this week in preparation for state.
“We’ll cut back their training a little, and we hope they rest and drink plenty of water,” she said.
“A couple of weeks ago, they were running five or more miles three days a week on their long days and then other days they would do their race pace for a couple of miles.
“Now, they’re going to be running about 25 minutes when they were running 50 minutes or more.”
