Lincoln County Retired educators meet

Chandler Methodist Church ladies hosted the Lincoln County retired educators for their meeting on Monday, Nov. 1. Katherine Greenfield, President, conducted the business meeting. Lynn Gatlin and Earlene Anderson were named for the nominating committee.

Following is a list of upcoming events in and around the Chandler community. The Chandler Lions Club meets at 12 p.m., each Thursday at First Christian Church, 614 Manvel. The Chandler Rotary Club meets 12 p.m., each Friday at Rt. 66 Bowl. The following events are planned for November. Mon.-Fri.

WELLSTON WINNERS

These fourth graders from Wellston Elementary School proudly show their winnings from an essay contest hosted by the Wellston Home Community Educators The essay topic was “What does Thanksgiving mean to you?” Students were awarded cash prizes for first to third places.

Turkey tips

In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, all county first graders were invited to submit recipes to the paper on “How to Cook a Turkey.” The following are the children’s versions of how they would cook a turkey. Agra Miss Neal’s class Kamdyn Turner - I will kill the turkey and put it in the oven.

Most don’t know we can see God and have seen Him. Jesus was asked to show them the Father, and Jesus replied to them by saying if you have seen Me you have seen the Father. Words spoken and actions by someone of the Spirit of God comes from God.

Thank you, Veterans

We join the rest of our nation on this Veteran’s Day to say thank you to the courageous men and women who have served in our armed forces. The freedoms we enjoy as Americans have been paid for by our veterans and their families for more than 200 years. Thank you for your willingness to serve.

Open House at historic Stroud cabin

The most notable land run in Oklahoma was on April 22, 1889, but did you know there were other subsequent land runs in Oklahoma? One such land run was for County A (now known as Lincoln County) held September, 28, 1891.

Annual county-wide 4-H Fundraiser is Nov. 6

Lincoln County 4-H will host their annual 4-H Pig Roast meal and Benefit Auction on Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Lincoln County Agri-Civic Center. 4-H’ers from across the county will be working together to provide the best meal money can buy.
