Dale school board hires new personnel

Dale Board of Education members hired new personnel this week and were informed that Special Ed enrollment in the district has grown 40 percent in the last five years.Following a brief executive session, the board members returned to open meeting.

A character moment

It started out like any other cross-country meet.Chandler seniors Kaylee Choate and Tatum Crouch set out on the course at the OBU meet, which took place at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center last Thursday. They were both having a great run, according to their coach, Connie Davis.

Bids come in too high

Lincoln County commissioners this week took no action regarding ARPA funded projects, the jail remodeling and expansion and a new building for the OSU Extension Center, after bids came in much higher than anticipated.Commissioners also voted to approve the county budget.

Felony charges for Stroud man

A Stroud man, previously convicted of six felonies in 2019, now faces eight new felonies following his arrest by officers.Formal charges were filed Sep. 24, 2024 in Lincoln County District Court against Acey Ambrose Murphy, 33.

Guilty plea in Fentanyl murder case

A Stroud man whose trial on a first degree murder charge related to the distribution of Fentanyl, a Controlled Dangerous Substance was set for later this month, has pleaded guilty to an amended count of second degree murder.Formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court Dec.

Laureate Beta Alpha chapter meets

Members of Stroud’s Laureate Beta Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi kicked off their new sorority year with a morning brunch hosted by the social committee. The event was held at the First Christian Church fellowship hall.The 45th anniversary of the chartering of the chapter was celebrated.

Sandra Jones honored

Sandra Jones, member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Stroud was honored at a recent event where she was presented with the organization’s International Award of Distinction.The Award of Distinction is the highest award in Beta Sigma Phi.
