A few weeks ago, my wife Pat decided it was time to go buy flowers so she could plant them whenever she was ready.My role is helping to go and pick up the flowers, the potting soil and whatever else she thinks she needs.I mentioned picking up the flowers, not picking them out.

A day at the beach

It’s beach day and I’m getting up way too early on vacation because the later it gets, the less likely you are to get a good spot by the water. My dad and older brother join me to set up our canopy and lawn chairs beachside, and as I haul our stuff, I catch a whiff of the ocean salt in the air.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend was a mixture of visiting several cemeteries and putting out flowers and taking a journey down to the lake and having some down time.My wife Pat and I usually visit four cemeteries, two here in the Shawnee area and two more in Oklahoma City.

At the old ballgame

There’s no other experience like a baseball game in the summer. It starts as you maneuver around in your car until a spot presents itself and then you have to endure the worst part of it all, the journey in the summer heat to the ballpark.

Library to feed kids in summer

Acouple of weeks ago, my good friend Steve Buoy and I journeyed out towesternOklahomaand enjoyed a spring turkey hunt.We each bagged a gobbler.It was good to see that the turkey population appears to be coming back in the areas we hunted and in those nearby as well.
