I stood at the front window Wednesday watching allergens from Nebraska and random parts of Iowa blowing down Manvel Avenue.

A comfortable Halloween

This year’s Trick or Treat night around our place showed that people are becoming more comfortable with these kinds of activities. I was glad to see that. My wife Pat and I weren’t sure what to expect.

Dale approves school budget

Dale’s Board of Education this week approved the final 2021-2022 budget and also adopted a resolution calling for the annual school election. Acting School Supt. Ky Wilkins presented the final budget to the board showing revenue estimates of $5,463,336.42.

Hearing set in assault on officers case

A preliminary hearing has been set for a Stroud man facing two felonies and three misdemeanors in the alleged assault of two Stroud officers. Steven Eugene Laffoon, 52, of Stroud, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Aug.

A ring with a story

I knelt on some loose shale to take a picture of Kindra sitting on a rock. It was about 10 feet from the water’s edge, but Lake Eufaula seemed to be down several feet. Where I was standing probably would have been waist deep at normal lake level.

Getting the booster shot

Last week, I was able to receive my Moderna booster shot for continued protection against the COVID-19 virus. Due to my age and a couple of health issues, my doctor provided a letter saying I needed that third shot.

Letter to the editor

I was somewhat confused when I saw the new map of the Lincoln Co redistricting. I finally concluded that due to the fact that the portion of Lincoln Co that District 3 “inherited” was due to years of neglect it was the only way District 2 could shed the neglected roads to someone else.
