Everyone is celebrating Spring Break this week and I hope that’s an indication that spring weather is just around the corner. Town Talk is anxious to get outside again and continue working on community projects.

State legislative update

The House passed two measures Thursday that will grant tax relief to individual Oklahomans and businesses. House Bill 2041 reduces the personal income tax by .25% through a credit. It results in tax reductions for all income levels.

Robbery charge in Stroud gun case

A man from Depew faces a felonious first degree robbery charge after allegedly stealing a firearm from a Stroud resident last fall. Russell Ted Foutch, 31, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on March 2 of this year.

Murder charges in Stroud shooting

A Harrah man, being held in jail for the last two weeks in the alleged fatal shooting of a Stroud resident, now faces a first degree murder charge.

County COVID cases keep climbing

The number of deaths in the area attributed to COVID-19 has jumped by five over the past week, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports. All five of those have been in Pottawatomie County, the OSDH said.

Felony charges in DUI arrest

A Chickasha man faces a felony DUI charge following his arrest by a state trooper in Lincoln County earlier this month. Shawn Allen Lowry, 34, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court with driving while under the influence of alcohol. Court records show he was arrested Feb.

Who’s ready for a game of miniature golf? Town Talk continues to receive daily donations for this project. It has been fun working on it because of the interest and excitement it has generated.

Legislative forum schedule

The next scheduled legislative breakfast will be at 326 E. Evans in Seminole, Okla. The meeting will be 8-9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 26. Legislative members will attend the breakfasts to discuss and answer questions pertaining to current legislation. Interested citizens are encouraged to attend.
