The Dale High School boys and girls basketball teams captured the Kingston tournament and each team had the Most Valuable Player of the tourney as well. Sophomore Dayton Forsythe of the Pirates was named the tournament’s MVP.

Remmi Schwahn competed in the 46th Annual United States Junior Open Championship on December 30-31st, 2021, at the Oklahoma State Fair Park. He placed 3rd out of 22 athletes in the 6 & Under 40 pound bracket. Remmi earned 30 points in four wins with a Tech Fall in the third period 17- 1.

Wrestling, hoops wind up 2021

Chandler’s wrestling and basketball teams wound up the 2021 portions of their schedules last week. The wrestling team beat Tecumseh, 47-27, at home on Thursday and the basketball teams had their home openers against Jones.

Area teams brought home a lot of hardware from the first tournament week of the basketball season. Dale swept the championships in the inaugural Boomarang Classic, played at Dale.

The Meeker Board of Education Monday night agreed to add a Middle School slow-pitch softball program beginning in the Spring. School Supt. Jeff Pruitt told the board members, “the kids are interested.

Chandler High School seniors Dalton Fowble and Delaney Haley have been named December Lions of the Month by the Lion’s Club. Dalton Fowble, the son of Eric and Virginia Fowble, maintains a 3.95 grade point average while taking concurrent college classes in addition to regular coursework.
