Kaden Jones took the opening kickoff to the house and Casmen Jones added a 20-yard touchdown run two minutes later, ending any doubts about the outcome of the game in just 127 seconds of clock time. By the time the game was over, it was 48-7 and the Lions had their fourth straight win.

All-State fastpitch teams announced

Rosters for the 2022 All-State fastpitch teams have been released. Jayden Haney from North Rock Creek became the first fastpitch All-Stater in school history and will play for the Middle East team. Sam Hartman and Addie Bell from Dale were chosen for the Small East team.

Davenport wallops Drumright

Scoring seven touchdowns in the first half, the Davenport Bulldogs shut out Drumright 52-0 last week to run their season record to 9-0. Because of the 45-point rule, the game was over at the conclusion of the second quarter.

Above, the Choctaw bench got a good look at North Rock Creek’s Rayne Jones during his long run to the end zone Thursday. North Rock Creek closed out at its last season as an independent and will compete in Class 3A next season.

Going to state

Riley Randall and Braxton Bussell finished first and third at the Class 3A cross country regional in Enid Saturday, leading Meeker’s boys to a state-qualifying performance. Randall, the defending state champion, turned in a 17:09, the fastest qualifying time at any of the three regionals.

McLoud falls to Perkins; awaits Bridge Creek

Following a 41-6 district setback to Perkins last week, the McLoud Redskins’ focus this week is on Bridge Creek who will they square off against in a road contest Friday night. McLoud Coach Rusty Hall said kickoff is at 7 p.m. The Redskins are now 1-7 overall and 0-5 in district competition.
