Chandler freshman Keelie Treat was named Player of the Year in fastpitch district 3A-4. Treat was one of two starting pitchers for the Lady Lions and played in the infield when she wasn’t in the circle.

Mounds scored midway through the third period to break a 28-28 tie, then iced the game with a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter and won, 42-28 Friday.

Stroud turned Homecoming into a real celebration Thursday night, hammering Allen, 46-0, and clinching a spot in the Class A playoffs. The win came behind a strong defensive effort and was the fourth straight victory for the Tigers.

Chandler rolled past the Millwood Falcons Thursday night, moving into a four-way tie for first place in District 2A-2. Chandler, Prague, Crossings Christian and Jones all own 3-1 league records. The Lions visit Meeker Friday night and also have district games remaining with Kellyville and Prague.

Area cross-country teams will scatter to the wind Saturday, heading to either Waurika, Enid or Henryetta in search of qualifying times for the state meet. Meeker, Prague, Chandler and Carney will go the regional at Oklahoma Bible Academy in Enid.

Anadarko upends McLoud, 20-7

Despite what McLoud Coach Rusty Hall called a “great defensive effort,” the Redskins fell to Anadarko last week 20-7. McLoud will square off in a home contest against Perkins Friday night with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The Redskins, with five starters out due to injury still, are 1-6 overall.

Wellston clips Kansans

The Wellston Tigers ran up more than a quarter of a mile in total offense and took a 46- 34 win from Life Prep Academy in Wichita, Kan., last week. The win lifts the Tigers’ record to 2-5 for the season. Wellston got out to an early lead, thanks to four touchdown passes.
