A one vehicle crash Sunday on the Turner Turnpike in Lincoln County injured a Collinsville woman, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
State Trooper Quenton Payne, who investigated the crash, identified the injured woman as Katie Short, 33. The trooper said she was transported by Survival Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in fair condition with head, trunk internal and trunk external injuries.
Payne stated the crash occurred just before 10 a.m. in the eastbound lane of the turnpike, one tenth of a mile west of mile marker 164.
He said Short was driving a 2016 Jeep Renegade eastbound on the turnpike when for an unknown reason the vehicle departed the roadway to the right, went airborne, turning over twice, striking a fence and landing upside down in a tree.
The trooper reported Short was pinned for approximately 35 minutes and was extricated by the Wellston Fire Department utilizing the Hurst tool.
He said seat belts were equipped and in use by the driver. He listed her condition at the time of the crash as sleepy. He noted the cause is still under investigation.
Payne, of Troop YB, was assisted by the Wellston Fire Department, Wellston EMS and Trooper Wayne Linzy of Troop YE.
