Donald Eugene “Don” Grotheer, age 86, of Tryon, Oklahoma, died Saturday, June 28, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30. A graveside funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m.

Incoming Meeker High School freshman, Michael Pritchard, recently received an award that distinguishes himself among cattle breeders.Pritchard received the Ultra Black Brangus Cow- Calf Pair of the Year at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Meeker Town Board approves budgets

Meeker Town Board of Trustees have approved both the General Operating and Public Works Authority budgets for 2025-2026.They unanimously approved a General Operating budget of $923,040 which is about $76,000 different than the current budget which ends June 30.

Northwestern State honor roll

Northwestern Oklahoma State University announced its spring semester honor roll lists.To make the President’s Honor Roll, students must make all A’s or a 4.0 grade-point average in a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours or nine graduate hours.

Meeker FFA students had a great time volunteering at the Meeker Roundup Club arena Saturday morning. This was to help with efforts at the Horse Camp hosted by Mammoth Baptist Church.

Hearing postponed for Meeker man in felonies

A pre-preliminary hearing has been continued for a Meeker man facing two felonies. A bench warrant for his arrest was issued at the same time but has now been returned.

Oklahoma’s Open Meeting Law long ago was created for a purpose. It is to keep the public aware and informed of what entities are doing and about to do in their meeting.This goes for public bodies and those non-profit organizations when they receive any kind of public funding.

Next Tuesday, Pat and I will celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were married on July 1, 1978 at St. Gregory’s Chapel.I’m not sure what we are going to do on Tuesday but most likely we will probably work at least some if not most of it.

Two felony charges for Harrah woman

A Harrah woman is facing two felonies and is scheduled to make her initial appearance at 9 a.m. June 26.Tara Kay Gentry, 47, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court June 12, 2025, with trafficking in illegal drugs and possession of firearm after former felony conviction.
