Watching the World Series this year is extra special because former Chandler High School athletic standout Jon Gray is pitching for the Texas Rangers against the Arizona Diamondbacks. While a student at Chandler Jon played baseball, basketball and football. His senior year he focused on baseball.

Prague man dies in I-40 crash

A Prague man reportedly has died as the result of injuries he suffered in a traffic collision Sunday night on I-40 near Shawnee in Pottawatomie County. State Trooper Matt Rackley stated the crash occurred around 8:14 p.m. Sunday on eastbound I-40 at mile market 187.5.

Ready for quail season

In just little over a week, the 2023-2024 quail hunting season begins statewide. Opening date to hunt the popular bobwhite is Saturday, Nov. 11. The season runs through Feb. 15, 2024. From the reports I’ve seen and heard, the quail numbers are up over a year ago.

Girl Scouts donate to Safe Routes to School

Girl Scout Troop #919 of Chandler donated $1,000 to the Safe Routes to School Sidewalk Project (Phase 2) recently. This was their final service project before disbanding the Troop. Several girls who are now Juniors in High School have been active since Kindergarten in 2012.
