Five Chandler High School cheerleaders and the mascot brought home All-American honors from the Universal Cheer Association national competition last week in Norman. From left are Mia Phipps, Makayela Dawkins, Emi McGuire, Macie Davis, Royanna Berry and Leo the Lion, aka Ashlee Beatty. Olen Murriel ‘Jack’ Robinson was born June 3, 1931. He was 1 of 8 children born to Clara and George Robinson of Sparks, Oklahoma. He was drafted and sent to Korea where he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the war.

Lisa Lee (Carroll) Mc-Gregor was born January 1, 1951 in Pawhuska to Billy and Opal (Pappan) McGregor. She passed away in her home in Edmond, May 21, 2023 at the age of 72. Lisa started school in a one room schoolhouse in Cuba, New Mexico, a Navaho Reservation School.

With schools out and it warming up, this is a good time to go fishing. Thinking about fishing, brings back a lot of good memories. When I retired from the daily paper more than 8½ years ago, I envisioned doing a lot of hunting and fishing.

Congratulations to our Stroud Alumni committee on another successful alumni weekend. They deserve a big thank you for all the time and hard work they devote to making this event happen each year. I was unable to attend due to my great-nephew Gideon’s out of town baseball tournament.
