Last week I had a doctor’s appointment and during the course of the visit, my physician mentioned that I had what he termed “an important” birthday the previous week. In case anyone cares or is just interested in knowing, I turned 75 a couple of weeks ago.

It was the second week of second grade at Fitzhugh when an undersized brownhaired boy with a white spot in his hair showed up. Mrs. Duffer introduced him to us as Nelson McSwain, who would be joining our class. This was an exciting development.

My apologies for spelling my friend Janell Kinnamon’s name wrong in last week’s paper. I thought about telling you I put an “e” on the end of her name because my nickname for her is Ja-Nellie. I thought I heard once that honesty is the best policy so I’m coming clean.

No action on Wellston loop

Lincoln County commissioners during a special meeting this week held up taking any action on an agreement with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority regarding the 930 Loop project. Likewise, they held off approving three forms with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation on the 930 Loop project.

Davenport announces valedictorian, salutatorian

Davenport High School has announced its valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2023. The valedictorian is Josie Walker and the salutatorian is Gage Keith. Josie Walker Josie Walker is the daughter of Amy and Steven Walker. She has attended Davenport public schools for 14 years.
