Primary election advance

Early voting for the June 28 primary election begins today and area voters in Pottawatomie and Lincoln County may cast ballots at their respective election boards. Republican voters in both counties may cast ballots in the race for District Attorney.

Felony charges in head-on collision

A Shawnee man faces two felony charges and three misdemeanor counts following a pursuit that reached a speed of nearly 100 miles an hour and striking a vehicle head-on, injuring the woman who was driving.

Earlene Kay Schoenecke was born Oct. 12, 1981 to Robert and Kathryn (Armstrong) Schoenecke in Oklahoma City. She died June 8, 2022 at the age of 40. Earlene later graduated from Dale High School in 2000. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Shawnee.

Sandra Kay Brooks-Cox was born Feb. 20, 1959 in Yakima, Wash. to Jim and Jo Ann (Lingar) Brooks. She died June 12, 2022 in Chandler at the age of 63. Sandra graduated high school and worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant in Tecumseh. She took care of her parents as a homemaker.

Rape charges dismissed

Multiple first degree rape charges against an Okemah man were dismissed by the District Attorney’s office three days before he was to stand trial. Dustin Ardell Cruce, 38, who was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Feb.

Chandler board approves appropriations

Chandler Board of Education members this week voted to approve the application for temporary appropriations for Fiscal Year 2022-2023. School Supt. Melody Toma said the General Fund amount totals $8,013,000, building fund is $758,400 and Child Nutrition is $408,800.

More charges filed against convicted felon

A woman convicted of a number of felonies over the past 16 years faces new charges following her arrest recently by Lincoln County deputies. Tenneah De-Nay McCormick, 39, was charged in Lincoln County District Court May 19 with three felonies and one misdemeanor.
