Toma to retire

Chandler School Supt. Melody Toma said this week she is retiring after 37 years in education. “I’m going to retire. I have no idea what I’m going to do, but I’m going to retire,” the veteran educator said during an interview prior to Monday night’s Board of Education meeting.

Dale hires new super

The Dale Board of Education this week voted unanimously to hire a new superintendent beginning July 1. After spending nearly 45 minutes in executive session, the board returned to open meeting and voted 5-0 to hire Will Jones as Dale’s new superintendent.

Hearings continued in homicide

Pre-preliminary hearings have been continued for two men charged with murder in connection with the death of a former Midwest City Marine. First degree murder charges against Steven Roberts, 55, and Virgil Earl Nelson, 67, were filed Dec. 21, 2021.

Meeker seats annexation meeting

The Meeker Town Board has scheduled an Open Public meeting for discussion only of the proposed annexation of around eight square miles into the Town limits. The special meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15 and will be held at the First Baptist Church in Meeker.
