Hunger for reading

I was hungry. It wasn’t until a feast was laid out before me that I realized. I was not just hungry. I was starving. I cracked open the first page of the book in front of me and began to devour the words. Letting my mind soak in the sweet details and the tart betrayals about the characters.

Big water

Heavy thunderstorms and torrential rainfall in the past few days have caused widespread damage to roadways and has ruined hay crops in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties. Lincoln County Emergency Manager Wendi Marcy said a number of roads were closed in the county, including some highways on Sunday.

Election July 13

Voters throughout Lincoln County will decide two propositions during a special election on Tuesday, July 13. Proposition 1 is for establishing a countywide ambulance service district and Proposition 2 is for construction of a new county jail.

Independence Day events

It’s almost the Fourth of July weekend, and towns across Lincoln County are having events. Chandler will have a fireworks show at 10 p.m. at Bell Cow Lake on July 4. It will be put on by the Chandler Fire Department, and there is no cost.

Monitoring medical marijuana

Medical Marijuana growing operations are surging in this area and other parts of the state. Because of concerns aired by citizens about some of these, Lincoln County commissioners and law enforcement have begun addressing those suspected of illegal activity.
