Chandler’s Kobe Smith made it to the state finals and Alison Conway made the semis in the state wrestling tournament over the weekend. It was an impressive showing for Chandler, competing under coach John Childress in his first year.

Chandler’s Kobe Smith dominated his opening match against Bryson Jones from Comanche in the Class 3A state tournament, getting the pin (below) at the 3:59 mark. He decisioned Kolby Adams from Morris, 4-1, in the semifinals before facing Kolby DePron and losing, 9-1, in the championship match.

Grant Edward Burget, 69, of Chandler, Okla., died on February 26 at his home. He was born July 15, 1951 to George and Doris (James) Burget in Oklahoma City, Okla. Grant grew up in Stroud and Chandler, where he became well known for being one of the fastest kids in the state.

Michael Ray Bailey was born February 7, 1956, in Chandler. He died Saturday, February 27, 2021, at his home. He was 65 years old. A 1974 graduate of Wellston High School, he was a tower crane operator and worked for Flintco.

Jack C. Mileham Jr. of Chandler was born to Dr. Jack C. Mileham Sr. and Mary (Skinner) Moran on October 8, 1949, in Tulsa, Okla. He died Saturday, February 7, 2021, in Chandler at the age of 71 years. A 1967 Chandler High School graduate, he worked as a plumber for Texas Instruments.
