COVID-19 numbers in area surpass 400

The total number of people testing positive for COVID-19 in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties has surpassed 400 during the past week increasing by more than 100 in Pottawatomie County alone.

Lincoln County also experienced a significant jump in persons testing positive.

No new deaths have been reported in either county, the Oklahoma State Health Department reports.

On Tuesday, Pottawatomie County’s number of positives cases stood at 318. A week ago, it was 211. That’s a jump of 107. Six people have died in the county due to the Coronavirus and 211 have recovered the OSDH reports.

In Lincoln County, Tuesday the positive count was 104. Last week, it was 58, an increase of 46. Lincoln County has recorded two deaths and at least 69 have recovered.

The number of combined positive cases in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties now stands at 422. It was 269 a week ago, a jump of 153. Two weeks ago, the count was 219.

There have been 203 more positive cases reported between the two counties in the last two weeks.

The total number of persons testing positive in Oklahoma also has increased substantially over the past week.

As of Tuesday, the number statewide stood at 33,775.

A week ago it was 27,147. That’s an increase of 6,628 the Oklahoma State Health Department reports. Two weeks ago the number statewide was 21,738 and three weeks ago it was 17,220.

The OSDH reported on Tuesday 1,089 more positive cases were confirmed and 13 more persons had died.

The statewide number of deaths on Tuesday attributed to the virus stands at 509. Last Tuesday, it was 461, up by 48.

Total current hospitalizations in Oklahoma due to the virus has dropped back under 600 in the past week.

Since the outbreak, more than 2,872 have been hospitalized, the OSHD reports.

As of Tuesday, the OSDH is reporting more than 555,351 have tested negative statewide.
