Area law enforcement agencies are not expecting trouble or problems next week on Inauguration Day.
President-elect Joe Biden will be officially sworn in during Inaugural ceremonies on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Officials there are bracing for trouble and the FBI has reported the likelihood of armed protesters at all 50 state capitols.
Local sheriffs and police chiefs said they don’t think it will spill over into Lincoln or Pottwatomie counties.
Lincoln County Sheriff Charlie Dougherty responded, “No sir, we don’t” when asked did he foresee any problems regarding Inauguration Day.
McLoud Police Chief Wes Elliott replied, “Not to my knowledge,” when he was asked about it.
Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth said, “We have not anything to suggest there will be any problems for us.”
Meeker Police Chief Trent Norton stated, “No,” when asked the question, adding, “but if anything arises, we will handle it accordingly.
“It’s a crazy world we live in.”
Authorities in Oklahoma are preparing for any problems that might arise at the State Capitol building in Oklahoma City.
