Agra public schools approves drivers Ed program

Agra approved a Drivers Ed program to be taught by Superintendent Jeff Kelly throughout the fall semester.

“We started off offering Drivers Ed in the summer a couple years ago,” he said. “We had some kids who weren’t able to take it over the summer and they requested to have it virtually.”

Students will be required to complete 30 virtual hours of class work and six hours of drive time.

Students will have to complete videos, worksheets and a written test.

Kelly said if students don’t complete all the work, they will roll it over into the summer.

Kelly said there is no designated class time for this program, students just complete the work when they can within the semester.

“We had some students sign up for the summer who didn’t complete the 30 hours, so they had to start again in the fall,” he said.

Kelly said normally students have to wait until the summer to start again, but since having the class through a virtual platform is now an option, they decided to try it out.

“We don’t offer it as a class during the school day,” he said. “It’s one of our virtual-blended options.”

The cost is $175.

Kelly said next summer anyone can attend the class, even if they are not a student within the Agra district.
