Charges filed in chase

A Guthrie man faces a felony and four misdemeanors after fleeing from law enforcement officers and eluding them for several hours.

Formal charges were filed June 22 in Lincoln County District Court against Paul Jimmy Laray Fox, 27.

Fox faces a felony count of endangering others while attempting eluding/attempting to elude a police officer; and misdemeanors of reckless driving, failure to signal on turning, improper backing and driving left of center.

Special Judge Emily Mueller has set a $3,000 bond for Fox and scheduled his initial appearance for 1:30 p.m. on July 22.

The felony count against Fox accuses him of endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude a police officer on June 16 this year by eluding Agra Police Officer Richard Roe by driving at a high rate of speed, racing around other vehicles on the road and refusing to stop, endangering numerous other persons who were using those same roadways.

The information states Fox was driving a Chevrolet truck on SH 18 in Lincoln County and after he had received a visual and audible signal directing him to bring his vehicle to a stop from Roe, who was driving a police car, refused his commands.

Count 2, a misdemeanor, charges him with reckless driving on the same date by driving his truck on SH 18 in a careless and reckless manner without due care for the safety of other people or their property by dodging around cars and driving at a speed that was neither careful nor prudent.
