Charges filed in Meeker abduction

An Oklahoma City man faces four charges, two felonies and two misdemeanors, following an alleged abduction of a Meeker woman in early December who also reportedly was pushed from a moving vehicle.

Curtis Leumell Cole, 32, was formally charged last month on Dec. 21 in Lincoln County District Court.

The charges include Kidnapping, Domestic Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon which are both felonies. The two misdemeanor counts are Domestic Assault and Battery and disrupting, preventing, interrupting an emergency phone call.

The Kidnapping charge is punishable by imprisonment up to 20 years and the Domestic Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon could bring imprisonment up to 10 years in prison or up to one year in the county jail.

Court records show that a bench warrant was issued for Cole. He appeared for a hearing on Dec. 21 before Special Judge Emily Mueller who set Cole’s initial appearance for 1:30 p.m. today (Jan. 7). Cole is accused of forcibly pulling a woman into

Cole is accused of forcibly pulling a woman into a car, confining her against her will from Meeker in Lincoln County on Dec. 6. He also allegedly pushed the woman out of a moving car on the same day, the charge states.

He reportedly grabbed the woman’s arm on the same day with force sufficient enough to cause bruising. And he reportedly intentionally prevented the woman from placing an emergency telephone call by grabbing and keeping the cell phone away from her when she was trying to call for help.

The misdemeanor domestic abuse–assault and battery is punishable by up to one year of a fine of $5,000 or both. The preventing the phone call could bring a fine of $3,000 and or one year in county jail.
