The Meeker Town Board, sitting as the Meeker Public Works Authority this week, tabled an agenda item on raising water, sewage and trash rates for Meeker residents and businesses.

During the September board meeting, the Authority had agreed to raise the minimum rates by $1 each on water, sewage and trash.

However, legal counsel James Hodgens told the Authority the current ordinance needed to be amended for the rates to become effective.

He advised Authority members Monday night he had not received the information he needed in order to draft an ordinance.

Meeting as the Town Board of Trustees, an agenda item for garage sale limitations was also tabled. Hodgens hasn’t drafted an ordinance on that as well.

Trustees indicated they favor an ordinance that restricts garage sales to three days, two times a year, per individual, per residence.

The ordinance will exempt the city-wide garage sale, they said last month.

In other action, the Trustees agreed to reimburse the Meeker New Hope Cemetery Association $3,425 for mowing the cemetery. Total expenditure for mowing this season was $7,700 and after deducting $4,275 in donations, that was the amount the Association requested for reimbursement.
