The Dale Board of Education this week approved hiring three new elementary teachers for the 2020-2021 school term and also an elementary teacher’s aide.
The three teachers include Leslie Fletcher, Pam Motley and Kasey Collins. They also hired Julie Moore as a teacher’s aide.
Elementary Principal Bruce Throckmorton said that Velta Brewester and Kelly Lempges have retired.
Board members also agreed to use Pottawatomie County Education Sales Tax funds to pay for plant and liability insurance for Fiscal Year 2021 that begins July 1.
During their meeting on June 1, board members approved property and casualty insurance for 2020-2021.
Kyle Rosebure, with BancFirst Insurance, advised them the price had gone up about 11 percent over a year ago, jumping from $90,000 to $101,000. In other action, the board approved
In other action, the board approved Paula Ramsey as custodian for the Activity Fund and Nutrition Fund and J.D. Widner as co-custodian.
Toward the conclusion of the meeting, Board President Robin Wiley-Greene presented retiring School Supt. Charlie Dickinson with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Association of School Administrators.
She also presented him with a plaque honoring his 39 years of service to the Dale School District, the last 20 as superintendent.
