On Saturday, June 27, 1200 boxes of produce and dairy boxes will be distributed through the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farmers to Families Food Box Program. This is not a needs-based program, so the food can go to anyone without restriction.

Drive through the baseball stadium at 900 Hickory in Wellston to pick up a box for your family. Food will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until supplies last. There will be people in the parking lot to help direct the flow of traffic.

Under the direction of the Rev. Patricia Johnson, pastor of Wellston First United Methodist Church, churches from the surrounding area are working together to unload the semitrailer and distribute the food on Saturday.

The boxes contain fresh, perishable food so you will need to plan for refrigeration. Though this program primarily benefits farmers and prevents the waste of agriculture products, it also serves as a great provision of food to others.

For questions before Saturday, Johnson can be reached at (405) 742-7081.
