“Imagination Activation” the goal of library’s virtual series

The McLoud Public Library and the Pioneer Library System welcome children to explore their imagination in the upcoming series “Imagination Activation,” part of this year’s Summer Learning Challenge.

Programs are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on each of the five Thursdays during July, beginning July 2.

The presentations will take place virtually through the library’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/pioneerlibrarysystem.

In this five-part series, children learn how to use their voices, faces, and bodies to clearly communicate characters and emotions onstage and when telling stories. Topics for the series are Acting out Animals, Turning a Story into a Play, Pretending with Puppets, Imagining with Objects, and Blankets and Boxes and Sticks, Oh My! The program presenters are Jonathan

The program presenters are Jonathan Gillis and Erin Cheek. Gillis has taught music at Christ the King Catholic School in Oklahoma City since 2015 and Cheek founded the drama club at the school in 2004. They produce full-scale musicals with casts between 50 and 125 students and also produce two musicals for early elementary-age children.

Time spent with this activity can be used for participation in the library’s annual Summer Learning Challenge. The series is geared specifically to children age 11 and under. No advance registration is required to
