State Rep. Zack Taylor, who is giving up his District 28 House post, appeared to be the winner in his bid to fill the District 28 Senate seat in Tuesday’s primary election.

He is running to fill the seat vacated by Jason Smalley earlier this year.

With 36 of 40 precincts reporting, he had 4,992 votes, more than 58 percent of those cast. Trailing were Mike Haines of Stroud and Christian Ford of Chandler.

District 17 State Sen. Ron Sharp, with 17 of 28 precincts in, was trailing challenger Shane Jett by just under 300 votes and headed for a runoff. Brandon Baumgarten was third.

Lincoln County Clerk Alicia Wagnon won her second four-year term, defeating Charles Nichols.

District 2 Commissioner Troy Evans will be in the August 25 runoff again Marlon Miller, who led a four-man race including John Cobb and Steve Furhman.
