Voters head to polls for primary

Voters in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties have plenty to decide as they head to the polls in next Tuesday’s June 30 primary.

In-person voting begins today (Thursday, June 25) at both of the County Election Boards in Chandler and in Shawnee.

Lincoln County voters may cast their in-person ballots today and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lobby of the Lincoln County courthouse at 811 Manvel Avenue in Chandler, Election Board Secretary Melissa Stambaugh stated.

Pottawatomie County voters may cast in-person ballots today during the same times and days at the Pottawatomie County Election Board, 14101 Acme Road in Shawnee, Election Board Secretary Jeannie Stover said.

On Tuesday, voters must go to their respective precincts to cast their votes.

All precincts in both counties will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

A voter in line to vote at 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot.

Voters in both counties will join those across Oklahoma to decide State Question 802 which, if passes, would require the state to expand Medicaid coverage.

Voters in Wellston will decide whether to extend a one-half cent sales tax for five years until 2025.

In Lincoln County, Republican voters will cast ballots in these races and candidates:

County Clerk, Alicia Wagnon incumbent, Charles Nichols.

District 2 County Commissioner, Troy Evans incumbent, Marlon Miller, John Cobb, Stephen Fuhrman.

State Senator District 28, unexpired term, Mike Haines, Christian Ford, Zack Taylor.

Corporation Commissioner, Todd Hiett, Harold Spradling.

U.S. Senator, Jim Inhofe incumbent, John Tompkins, JJ Stitt, Neil Mavis.

Democrats will vote on Democratic nominees for U.S. Senate, Elysabeth Britt, Abby Broyles, Sheila Bilyeu, R.O. Joe Cassity, Jr.

In Pottawatomie County:

Voters in the Dale School District will decide a race between Robin Wiley-Greene, incumbent, and Randy Kerr, Jr.

Voters in the North Rock Creek School District will choose between Adam L. Hester, incumbent and Rodney Casteel.

In Pottawatomie County, Republican voters will cast ballots in these races and candidates:

Sheriff, Mike Booth, incumbent, Ben Henderson, Jeff Griffith.

County Commissioner District 2, Randy Thomas, incumbent, Jason M. Evans.

State Senator District 17, Ron Sharp, incumbent, Shane David Jett, Brandon Baumgarten.

State Senator District 13, Greg McCortney, Carisa Roberson.

State Senator District 28, unexpired term, Mike Haines, Christian Ford, Zack Taylor.

State Representative District 20, Sherrie Conley, Steve Herberger.

State Representative District 28, Jerri Parker, Danny Williams.

Corporation Commissioner, Todd Hiett, Harold Spradling.

U.S. Senator, Jim Inhofe incumbent, John Tompkins, JJ Stitt, Neil Mavis.

Fifth District Congress, Janet Barresi, Oklahoma City, Charles Tuffy Pringle, McLoud, David Hill, Edmond, Terry Neese, Oklahoma City, Michael Ballard, Tecumseh, Miles Rahimi, Edmond, Stephanie Bice, Edmond, Shelli Landon, Tulsa, Jake Merrick, Yukon.

Democrats will vote on nominees Kendra Horn, incumbent, Tom Guild, for 5th District Congress.

Democratic nominees for U.S. Senate, Elysabeth Britt, Abby Broyles, Sheila Bilyeu, R.O. Joe Cassity, Jr.

In Shawnee, city voters have four contests to decide.

Mayor: Ed Bolt, Dean Hudlow, Theresa Cody and Ron Gillham, Sr.

Ward 2 Commissioner: Bob Weaver, Elliott Shuler.

Ward 3 Commissioner: James Harrod. Incumbent, Travis Flood.

Ward 4 Commissioner: Darren Rutherford, Incumbent, LaDonna Bryce.
