Winners of reading contest

The staff at Haynie Public Library in Prague announced the winners of the Summer Read 2020.

Because of the high number of readers this year, first and second place winners were chosen in all categories.

All readers who entered received prizes for reaching their half goal and final goal. Grand prize winners are as follows.

In the Individual Read category for ages 4-8, first place went to Reta Young for reading 8,287 pages winning a 40-inch saucer tree swing. Otto Lober took second with 7,445 pages read. He won a Star Wars R2D2 digital clock.

In the 9-11 age group, Anthony Bland took first reading 16,127 pages. His prize was a seven-inch kids Android 9.0 tablet with case. Second place went to Addison Richardson with 7,201 pages read winning a digital bunny alarm clock.

Edward Newport received a Fire HD 8 Tablet with case for the first place award in the 12-18 years group. There was no second place.

In the 19-39 age group, Amber Smith took first for reading 2,076 pages winning a Fire HD 8 tablet with case. Second place went to Ashley Lober with 1,678 pages read. She was awarded a Pioneer Woman Cookbook and gardening tools.

Sharon Holder took first place in the 40 and above group with 15,401 pages read. Her prize was a $100 bill. For second place, Linda Brown received a Pioneer Woman Cookbook, a set of four serving plates and a large tote. she read 6,281 pages.

In the Family Read category, the Draper family won the first place prize of a D-Series 40-inch full array LED Smart TV for reading 3,784 pages.

The Jordan family came in a close second reading 3,105 pages. Their prize was a DVD player, an insulated tote and kitchen tools.
