The number of new cases in the area attributed to COVID-19 has jumped slightly in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
No new deaths have occurred in Pottawatomie County but there has been one in Lincoln County since the last report.
The OSDH has quit reporting gender and age group of those who have passed away due to COVID-19.
The OSDH recently began reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily. The agency has stated the reason is because of the decline in COVID-19 cases.
The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from May 19 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, May 25.
There have been 127 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19.
Lincoln County now has 72 reported deaths.
The number of positive cases has risen just a bit in both Pottawatomie and Lincoln counties, OSDH figures show.
The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 14 and in Lincoln County they increased by 3, according to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 17 from the most recent report by the OSDH. The previous report had that number increasing by 32.
Lincoln County’s latest number is 3,248. It was 3,245 at the last report.
The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 8,375. Last report it was 8,361.
The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 11,623.
Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 11,391 the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 8,218 have recovered and 3,173 have recovered in Lincoln County.
The OSDH reported as of May 19, statewide 451,280 people have tested positive, there have been 6,918 Oklahoma deaths. Active cases stood at 1,621.
The OSDH has stopped reporting total number of recovered statewide.
This week on Tuesday, the OSDH reported 89 new positive cases confirmed and 22 additional deaths.
