County approves block grant

Lincoln County Commissioners this week approved a Community Development Block Grant-20 grant and signed the contract.

The total amount of the CDBG grant is $129,156, Paul Simpson, rural fire defense coordinator with the Central Oklahoma Economic Development District (COEDD) told commissioners Monday.

They also voted to contract with COEDD to administer the grant for $7,310.

Commissioners then agreed to signing the contract for administrative services with COEDD for the fire equipment which will provide two brush rigs for the Arlington Fire Department.

Commissioners also voted to throw out bids for construction of the west wall at the Fairgrounds.

During a special meeting on May 17, they opened the two bids submitted.

“One was from Utility Field Services for $115,500 and the other was for $68,400 by Buoy Brothers,” County Clerk Alicia Wagnon said after that meeting,

Wagnon had pointed out District 1 Commissioner Carl Munson made a motion to accept the bid by Buoy Brothers, then a short time later rescinded his motion so the Fair Board could discuss the bids and pricing.

At this week’s meeting, it was pointed out the Fair Board had decided not to do anything at this time because the board members didn’t think they had enough money in their account.

In other action, commissioners:

Agreed to supply aid to the Fair Board in demolition work at the Fairgrounds.

Approved a lease agreement with Pin Drop, LLC for radio tower property through June of 2025.

Voted to set up a joint meeting with the Excise Board for 9 a.m. June 22 to discuss Departments’ Estimate of Needs for the Fiscal Year 2022.

Amended a resolution on establishing a Revolving Account within the Highway Cash Fund.

Adopted a resolution allowing District 2 Commissioner Marlon Miller to purchase an excavator.

Approved a resolution for District 2 requesting/receiving/inventory officers.
