There’s been a double digit jump in new positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties since the last report, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
However, no new deaths have occurred in either county during that same period, according to the OSDH.
The OSDH recently began reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily. The agency has stated the reason is because of the decline in COVID-19 cases.
The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from June 30 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, July 6.
There have been 131 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19.
Lincoln County has 72 reported deaths. The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 21 and in Lincoln County they increased by 15, according to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 36 from the most recent report by the OSDH.
The previous report had that number increasing by only 7.
Lincoln County’s latest number is 3,281. It was 3,266 at the last report.
The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 8,430. Last report it was 8,409.
The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 11,722.
Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 11,469, the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 8,274 have recovered and 3,195 have recovered in Lincoln County.
The OSDH reported as of June 30 statewide, 457,490 people have tested positive, there have been 7,388 Oklahoma deaths. Active cases stood at 1,933.
The OSDH has stopped reporting total number of recovered statewide.
