Sip and Stroll along Silk Stocking Row

The Friends of Silk Stocking Row in Chandler held their 1st Annual Sip and Stroll 2-3 p.m., Sunday, July 4, on the lawns and sidewalks of 8th and 9th Streets between Steele and Price.

The event was organized by Kim Huffman and Deanna Trippler.

Silk Stocking Row is a historic neighborhood that got its name from the wealthy residents who lived there during the early twentieth century.

According to the City of Chandler’s website, “the street was nicknamed Silk Stocking Row because only very rich women living in these mansions could afford real silk stockings.” Photo/Elizabeth Myers
