Commissioners divvy up bridge, road money

Lincoln County Commissioners this week voted unanimously in determining the breakdown of how County Bridge and Road Improvement funds will be divided.

Following discussion, the commissioners agreed 40 percent of the funds will go to District 1 Commissioner Carl Munson and District 2 Commissioner Marlon Miller and District 3 Commissioner Lee Doolen will each receive 30 percent.

The funds are provided by the state.

The total amount of CBRI funds the county will receive monthly is approximately $66,000, Doolen said.

That formula will last through the end of October. That is when realigning of the three commissioner districts must be completed, Doolen, who is chairman of the commission, said during the meeting.

Commissioners also decided that citizens who come to the Lincoln County courthouse in Chandler will not be required to wear masks due to Covid-19 and the Delta variant.

Doolen pointed out individual offices can do what they want, they can require their employees to wear masks and may ask citizens to wear them but must not mandate they wear masks.

In other action, the commissioners, following lengthy discussion, authorized Assistant District Attorney Randall Wiley to begin the process to abandon right-of-way from the Wellston Turnpike to Route 66 in District 2.

Any property owners within 300 feet eventually will be notified of a public hearing once the commissioners schedule that hearing.
