Davenport city officials have scheduled a citywide “fall clean up day” for Saturday, Sept. 18. Residents with addresses inside Davenport city limits can dispose of items not normally picked up by the trash contracting company. Items will be picked up if placed street side on that day.
For that day only, the gate to the city sewer lagoon property at the east end of Main Street will be open for residents inside the city limits to haul large items of trash, limbs or debris to designated piles and containers. Brush and limbs should be cut in four-foot lengths and small items should be in containers.
Bulky items such as cook stoves, furniture, mattresses, etc., will not be picked up but can be hauled by citizens to the roll-off container at the lagoon site. There are special restrictions for appliances such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners.
