Construction is continuing on the Eighth Street bridge project in Chandler. City Manager James Melson said a 64-feet concrete box with wing walls is being constructed to replace the bridge that washed out a few months back with the heavy rains. He said the Chandler City Council awarded the bid to Downey Contractors. Total cost is running around $104,000 with the city of Chandler providing the materials and Downey being paid about $70,000 for the construction. Melson said it’s similar to an ODOT project.
