The number of COVID-19 deaths in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties jumped by 13, and the new positive cases are up more than 300, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
Last week the number of new deaths was seven over the previous week and there were more than 400 new cases for the second consecutive week.
Five of the deaths have occurred in Pottawatomie County and eight new deaths have been recorded in Lincoln County, according to the OSDH.
The OSDH has begun reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily.
The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from Sep. 22 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, Sep. 28.
There now have been 152 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19.
Lincoln County now has 94 reported deaths.
The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 241 and in Lincoln County they increased by 102, according to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 343 from the most recent report by the OSDH. The previous report had that number increasing by 436.
Lincoln County’s latest number is 4,451. It was 4,349 at the last report.
The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 10,741. Last report it was 10,500.
The total number testing positive in the two counties now stands at 14,849.
Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 14,448, up by 425, the OSDH said. In Pottawatomie County, 10,238 have recovered and 4,210 have recovered in Lincoln County.
The OSDH reported as of Sep. 22 statewide, 598,072 people have tested positive, compared to 584,692 at the last report. There have been 8,715 Oklahoma provisional deaths, last week’s reporting showed 8,440. And active cases stand at 20,093. Last report they were 25,533.
The OSDH has stopped reporting total number of recovered statewide.
