The number of COVID-19 deaths in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties rose by only three compared to 16 a week ago, but the new positive cases increased by more than 750, the most recent Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.
All three of the deaths occurred in Pottawatomie County, according to the .
The OSDH has begun reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily.
The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from Oct. 13 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, Oct. 19.
There now have been 173 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19.
Lincoln County has 101 reported deaths.
The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 606 and in Lincoln County they increased by 149, according to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 755, a huge increase from the most recent report by the OSDH. The previous report had that number increasing by 309.
Lincoln County’s latest number is 4,769. It was 4,620 at the last report.
The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 11,809. Last report it was 11,203.
