Chandler High School seniors Caroline McCalip and Jacob Ostrowski have been named January Lions of the Month by the Lion’s Club.
Caroline McCalip, the daughter of Greg and Billie McCalip, maintains a 3.98 grade point average while taking four years of advanced placement in Honors English.
Her academic achievement has earned her an invitation to the CHS Academic Banquet for four years. She received an Outstanding Achievement Award for speech.
Caroline was selected to serve on the BancFirst Student Board of Directors and is a member of both the Oklahoma and National Honor Societies. She displayed her leadership abilities while serving as vice president of her school’s NHS chapter, varsity cheer captain, freshman class president and sophomore vice president. Other awards include All Region Cheer and the eRYLA Ray of Sunshine Award.
Caroline was also involved in Student Council, Postponing Sexual Involvement, Positive Peers and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Her service to the community includes serving pancakes for the football team and hot dogs for scrimmaging football teams. She volunteered at the Chamber of Commerce Crawfish Boil, Relay for Life and the Ice Cream Festival. Since 2020, Caroline has worked for
Since 2020, Caroline has worked for White Valuation Services in Chandler. Following graduation, she plans to major in Health Science at the University of Oklahoma in Norman to prepare for a career as a dental assistant.
Jacob Ostrowski is the son of Jonathan and Vicki Ostrowski. He holds a 3.95 GPA while taking advanced classes in English for three years. He is a three-year member of the National Honor Society and has earned an invitation to the CHS Academic Banquet for four years.
He was chosen to serve on the Banc-First Student Board of Directors and was a Student Council Representative all through high school.
A versatile athlete, Jacob played football and baseball and participated in powerlifting. He was named Academic All State in baseball and All-District Offensive Lineman in football. He earned an Honorable Mention spot on the Little All-City High School Football Roster. He also participated in Postponing

His community involvement includes cleaning Main Street during “Chandler Sweeps” and helping out at the East Side Elementary School carnival. He served lunch to military veterans on Veterans Day and was part of the Veterans Day program.
In addition to his schoolwork and extracurricular activities, Ostrowski has been employed by Eyestone’s doing lawn work. After he graduates, he plans to attend college with a major in kinesiology while pursuing a college football career.
His goal is to become a strength and conditioning coach at the college or professional level.
