McLoud renews Day’s contract

The McLoud City Council, during a recent special meeting, renewed the contract of City Manager Buck Day for another year and approved an updated Fiscal Year 2023 budget.

Day said there were only three Council members present during almost all of the meeting, including Mayor Stan Jackson, Vice Mayor Ralph Snider and Councilman Steven Tomaszewski.

He reported the council members didn’t go into an executive session before voting on his contract which calls for him to be paid $66,836.60.

Council members approved an updated budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1.

The Council had approved the budget during its May meeting, but Day explained the accountant provided updated figures.

The newest budget shows total General Fund operating revenues projected at $1,724,000 with total expenditures figured at $1,660,500. Revenues are expected to exceed expenditures by $63,500.

The beginning General Fund balance July 1 is anticipated to be $1,333,679 with an ending fund balance on June 30, 2023 of $1,397,179.

In other action, the board approved waiving the Chamber of Commerce’s Special Event permit fees for the Blackberry Festival scheduled for July 8-9, 2022.

Council members also approved the FY23 contract with the McLoud Youth Football and Cheer program.

Last week’s special meeting was held in place of the regular meeting that was scheduled for 6 p.m. June 23, Day said.
