A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Chandler man who is a registered sex offender and who faces two felony counts.
Scott Grady Sweeden, 43, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Aug. 15.
He is accused of being a registered sex offender residing within 2,000 feet of a school playground and failure to register as a sex offender.
A $3,000 bench warrant was issued the day charges were filed.
Count 1 accuses him of residing on July 29 at 210 W. Ninth Street in Chandler, which residence is within 2,000 feet of Chandler Public Schools when he was a registered sex offender.
In Count 2, he is charged on the same date of failing to register as a sex offender with the Chandler Police Department, after he became subject to the provisions of the Sex Offender Registration Act as the result of being convicted on Feb. 2, 2006, in Cleveland County District Court of Sexual Abuse by a Caretaker.
Chandler Police Officer Shane Mustard investigated the case and discovered during a call that Sweeden resided at that address and was wanted on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.
