Chandler Rotary Club recently announced that the September Student Rotarians are Makinlee Metheny and Laryssa Nunn.
Makinlee Metheny is the daughter of Geoff and LauraMetheny.Shehasone younger brother, Maddox. After high school Makinlee plans to attend Northeastern State University or Seminole State College and pursue a degree in Sports Medicine or nursing.
Makinlee attended Gordon Cooper her junior year of high school and achieved her CNA certificate.
Makinlee has shown strong leadership skills with involvement in the BancFirst student board, student council, FCCLA, PSI, Positive Peers and FCA. She also keeps very busy with her role as a football and baseball manager as well as a member of the high school basketball team.
Makinlee has found tremendous value in service of others with her volunteer work. She has volunteered her time helping with the Ronald McDonald House, the Angel Tree, the Soup Kitchen, as well as organizing a donation drive to collect items for local nursing homes in need.
Laryssa Nunn is the daughter of Daniel Nunn and Jennifer Nunn. She has one younger brother, Nate. After high school she plans to attend Northeastern State University with a major in Communication Studies. Later she plans to continue her education at Oklahoma State University – College of Osteopathic Medicine and specialize in pediatrics. Laryssahasworkedhardon her education and already obtained college credits.
She is also a member of Joy Hofmeister’s Student Advisory Council and a student council representative forThe National Honor Society. Laryssa was voted Junior Class President and attended ALA Oklahoma Girls State during the summer.
Laryssa was selected for the Gifted and Talented program, Secretary of the ChandlerMusicMakers,the ECOCDA Regional Honor Choir, and on the Superintendents Honor roll and Oklahoma Honor Society three years in a row.
Laryssa has dedicated much of her time to volunteering with the Special Olympics, Regional Food Bank, Lincoln County Health Dept and Lincoln County Partnership for Child Wellbeing and many othercommunityeventsand organizations.
