Big Weekend

It was a weekend of memories that began Friday evening, when the Meeker Bulldogs crowned Maleah Blankenship as their Homecoming queen prior to the game with Kellyville. A couple of hours later, Chandler senior Casmen Hill, above right, ran wild against the Bethel Wildcats, racing for 349 yards in a 48-15 victory. Hill had touchdown runs of 54, 82, 61 and 66 yards and averaged almost 22 yards per carry. Photo/Brian Blansett. Then, on Saturday afternoon, Cinderella came to life as the Dale Pirates won the Class A fall baseball state tournament in Oklahoma City. The Pirates were the eighth seed in the eight-team tournament, but hammered a who’s who list of baseball powers, beating Rattan, 6-3, Byng, 12-2, and Silo, 18-11, to win their 11th fall state championship and 22nd overall.
