Assault on officers case

A hearing has been scheduled for a Chandler woman facing three felony charges, among them two for assault and battery upon a police officer, after her arrest.

Cheryl Manning, 46, was formally charged in Lincoln County District on Oct. 12 with two counts of assault and battery upon a police officer and placing bodily fluids on a police officer, all felonies.

She also was charged with drinking an alcoholic beverage in a public place.

She appeared before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk on the day she was charged and ordered to make her initial appearance at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 10. The judge set a $3,000 bond for Manning.

Special Judge Emily Mueller recently set her pre-preliminary hearing for 9 a..m. Feb. 10 and then rescheduled it for March 16.

In Count 1, Manning is accused on Oct. 11 on the roadway near 930538 S. 3400 Road in Lincoln County of intentionally kicking Chandler Police Chief Matt Mattheyer while he was performing his duty to arrest her for being intoxicated in public.

Count 2 charges Manning on the same day and place of intentionally kicking Chandler Police Lt. Dax Phipps while he was attempting to arrest her for being intoxicated in a public place.

In Count 3, Manning is accused on the same day and place of spitting saliva on Phipps as he was trying to arrest her for public intoxication.

The misdemeanor charges her with drinking a Smirnoff Green Apple alcoholic beverage and being intoxicated.
