Voters in Chandler elected a new mayor and also chose a new Ward II Council member during Tuesday’s municipal elections.
Prague School District voters defeated a $22,410,000 bond issue.
Kent McVey defeated Tony Wilson to become Chandler’s new mayor. McVey received 265 or 70.11 percent of the votes to 113 forWilson which was 29.89 percent of the votes cast.
In the race for the Ward II Chandler Council seat, David Burgess won a three man race with incumbent Virgil Wilson and Cameron McBride.
Burgess garnered 153 votes,Wilson 115 and McBride 105.
Eleven different entities in Lincoln County held elections Tuesday and there was one of area interest in Pottawatomie County.
In the vote on the Prague School District bond issue 469 were in favor of the proposition which was 56.24 percent of the votes cast. But it needed to pass with at least 60 percent in favor.
There were 365 or 43.76 percent who opposed the issue.
It was for the purpose of constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings.
Other municipalities and school districts that had elections Tuesday include: In the race for Stroud City Council Ward 2, Raphe Thompson with 134 votes defeated Phyllis L. Craig, who received 77 votes.
JP Morris won the Stroud School Board Office No.3 seat, defeating Shane Niccum 179 votes to 96.
Jennifer Miller with 39 votes and Mitchell Booze with 35 votes won four year terms on the Davenport Board of Trustees. Kimberly Mayhall received 32 votes.
The three winning four-year terms on the Tryon Board of Trustees were Sandy Munier with 22 votes, Richard Meyer, 21 votes and Cody E. Coleman, 18 votes. Rocky Cooper got 16 votes and Timothy Anderson 12 votes.
Peyton A. Peters received 13 votes in the race against David M. Brockman who had 10 votes to win the Office No. 3 position on theWhite Rock Elementary School School Board.
In the contest for the Office No. 3 seat on the Wellston School Board Bradley Pittman won with 122 votes to 48 for Dorothy Swanda.
In the race for four-year terms on the Agra Board of Trustees, Lori Molloy with 30, Laura Brown with 27 and Janene Stevens with 26 each won seats. The other running was Patricia Roe, who had 20.
Justin Brown defeated Jimmie Derrel Watkins for the unexpired term on the Agra Board of Trustees. Brown received 31 votes to 14 for Watkins.
Luther Public Schools, Office No. 3, Brandon Rogers won with 100 votes to 39 for Charles DeFuria, Cushing School District, Office No. 3, Brian Zwanziger defeated Trudy Evans 462 to 359.
In the McLoud City Council race, Ward 1 incumbent and current Mayor Ralph Snider was defeated by Phil Solinger 119 votes to 114.
