A pre-preliminary hearing has been continued again for a Meeker man who was arrested after officers served a search warrant on his residence across from the Town Hall.
A formal felony charge was filed in Lincoln County District Court Sep. 23 against John Henry Hagar, 34. He is accused of possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with the intent to distribute.
Hagar also is facing a misdemeanor count of possession of CDS.
He appeared before Associate District Judge Sheila Kirk Sep. 20. She set his bond at $20,000 and he made his initial appearance on Nov. 10.
On that date, Special Judge Emily Mueller scheduled a prepreliminary hearing for him on Jan. 19. 2023. She further continued it until March 16.
On March 16, Judge Mueller continued his pre-preliminary hearing until 1:30 p.m. May 11.
In Count 1, Hagar is accused on Sep. 19 at 515 W. Carl Hubbell Boulevard in Meeker in Lincoln County of possessing a quantity of marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Count 2 charges Hagar on the same date and at the same location of unlawfully possessing a quantity of methamphetamine and a quantity of Fentanyl.
Meeker Assistant Police Chief Scott Wilson said eight Meeker Police officers and one from Prague began serving the search warrant that evening on Sep. 19 as the Meeker Town Board was holding its monthly meeting across the street.
The assistant chief said when officers arrived at the house and property at 515 W. Carl Hubbell to begin searching, that no one was home.
But shortly afterwards Hagar showed up, he said.
“By the time he showed up, we already had found two to three pounds of marijuana,” Wilson said.
Wilson claimed, “the 19 grams of fentanyl is probably enough to wipe out the Town of Meeker.”
Wilson noted officers discovered about 2½ pounds of marijuana in Hagar’s shop on the property and around another eight pounds in the house. “A little more than a pound was found inside a diaper wrapped up,” he said.
The diaper with marijuana inside of it was found in the shop, Wilson stated.
“We also found some small personal use bags,” Wilson said.
“In all, we confiscated 15½ pounds of marijuana and the 19 grams of fentanyl,” Wilson added.
Wilson explained, “Hagar has no Medical Marijuana license whatsoever.”
Officers found several one pound bags of marijuana, about a dozen Mason jars crammed full of the drug and additional baggies.
“We’ve been investigating this for a month,” Wilson said.
Police Chief Trent Norton pointed out, “We’ve responded to this residence in the last six months or so five or six times for various calls.
Wilson commented, “I’ve been doing this for 31 years and it’s the most weed I’ve seen in a long time.”
