The town of Prague invites everyone to “Be Czech for A Day” at the annual Prague Kolache Festival this Saturday.
Everyone is invited to come celebrate the Czech traditions.
Activities start at 9 a.m. and continue to 10:30 p.m. along Main Street that runs through the City Park.
The Czech attractions include polka bands, food, kolaches, Czech Costume (kroj) Parade, Klobasnek Eating Contest, Kolache Eating Contest, Czech Wine and Food Contest, and a big Polka Street Dance that evening. The festival parade starts at 11:00 a.m. and the big attractions are the floats and the Sooner Schooner from the University of Oklahoma.
Immediately following the parade is the Firemen’s Challenge Games located on 9th Street, one block south of Main Street behind Destinations restaurant.
This is free to everyone to watch which town will take home the trophy.
There will be a Car Show on Mitacek between Destinations and Ace Hardware and after the parade some of the vehicles will be showcased along Main Street.
The Arts & Crafts Show will be set up in the parking lots behind BancFirst.
The Beer Garden is located on Main Street between Sonic and Ace Hardware.
The day-long event celebrates the Czech heritage of Prague.
The festival also is the birthday party for the town, founded in 1902, 120 years ago.
No dogs allowed at the festival except for service dogs with documentation.
