No action on Wellston loop

Lincoln County commissioners during a special meeting this week held up taking any action on an agreement with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority regarding the 930 Loop project.

Likewise, they held off approving three forms with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation on the 930 Loop project.

The commissioners indicated they will have those items on the agenda for next Monday’s (May 22) regularly scheduled meeting.

District 3 Commissioner Lee Doolen, who is also chairman of the commission, explained the 930 Loop project is a loop around Wellston while a new bridge project is constructed.

He noted the project is not part of the Turnpike Authority’s Access Oklahoma which has been held up and is awaiting the Oklahoma State Supreme Court to decide several lawsuits filed against the OTA.

Commissioners also approved an interlocal agreement between the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Buy Board, a national purchasing cooperative.

Chassary McClendon with the Sheriff’s Office explained, “It’s not limited to the Sheriff’s Office, the other county offices can use it as well.”

Commissioners voted to authorize the Sheriff’s Office to apply for the Safe OK Grant. Sheriff Charlie Dougherty informed commissioners, “It’s a Violent Crimes grant.”

Commissioners also adopted a resolution between Oklahoma County and Lincoln County for maintenance on Countyline Road.

They took no action concerning a recommendation from the Child Abuse Prevention Committee and they took no action after listening to a proposal from Safety Consultant, 25/8 Safety.
